RCHA 55th Anniversary Proclamation

Robeson County Housing Authority

Whereas, today, the Robeson County Housing Authority and its nonprofit business and community partners gather at 111 West 3rd street Lumberton, North Carolina to mark its 55th anniversary; and

Whereas, on October 1, 1968 a group of civic leaders established the Robeson County Housing Authority to create decent, safe, and sanitary housing, to low-income families, including elderly and handicapped persons in Robeson County; and

Whereas, today, the Robeson County Housing Authority has four affordable housing communities located throughout Robeson County and has the capacity to serve up to 290 families and 1,692 household members; and

Whereas, the Robeson County Housing Authority is a high performing agency. The designation was received after the public housing agency scored well on the Public Housing Assessment System, which is conducted annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and

Whereas, the Robeson County Housing Authority continues to mobilize and invest in philanthropic resources to address our most pressing issues, including the need for greater economic mobility and bridging the gap for fair and affordable housing; and

Now Therefore, I, Tom Taylor, The Chairman of the Robeson County Housing Authority Board of Commissioners do hereby honor and congratulate the Robeson County Housing Authority on its 55 years of exemplary service to the communities.
